The Bible.
We believe that the Bible is authoritative, credible and ultimately a trustworthy book. It is unique in the sense that we believe that the human authors were carried along and guided by the Holy Spirit and that the words found in the pages of the Bible are God-breathed and are the Word of God. The Bible acts in many ways like ‘true north’ as we seek to orient our lives in this turbulent world of constant change and a multiplicity of options. For both the follower of Jesus and the seeker of ultimate reality, the Bible is a book that will help add strength to your soul and clarity for the journey. Reading the Bible with an open heart and a sincere faith will lead you to encounter God. If you are not a convinced believer, the Bible is a great place to start your search. Asking questions of the Scriptures is permitted! Our desire is that people would read it frequently and thoughtfully.
About God
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in the Persons of the Holy Trinity—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God himself is relationship defined. God is always looking, in a sense to broaden the circle of relationship—this is why he made us. We have an instinctive desire to relate, because we were made in his image and he is always relating with the three person of the Godhead. Community finds its origin in God.
Apostles Creed
“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into the place of the dead; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from where He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy Christian church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.” This is our hope, this is our message.
Our Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in the virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, His deity, His sinless humanity and His perfect life. We also believe in the eternal all-sufficiency of His atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the Father’s right hand, and His personal coming again at His second Advent. We believe that justification is a judicial act of God on the believer’s behalf, based entirely on the merits of Christ. We believe that people are made spiritually alive by the power of the Holy Spirit as we place our saving faith in Jesus. Salvation is a free gift of God (grace) and we add nothing to his saving work except to receive with a heart of gratitude. The rest of our lives look different because of our deeply rooted gratitude for the one who rescued us and paid the penalty of our sin. Our acts of goodness flow not in the direction of ‘earning’ our salvation, but they flow out of our heart of deep gratitude to the God who rescued us from our sins.
Baptism Of The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is present today advancing good and restraining evil. We affirm that the Holy Spirit gives himself to every follower of Christ and disperses his gifts along with his presence to those who choose to follow Jesus. We believe that He empowers His people for service and to be witnesses through the Baptism in the Holy Spirit as described in Acts 2.
Water Baptism
We believe in Christ’s leadership of the Church, the celebration of Christian baptism by immersion for believers. We believe that the ‘next step’ for people who have chosen to follow Christ personally is to be baptized in water. Baptism is ultimately an act of public identification with Jesus—in his death and resurrection. We encourage every believer in Jesus to be baptized in water.
Eternal Life
We believe in life beyond this world which is described in the Bible as paradise or heaven. We also believe in a place of eternal death described in the Bible as hell. Our purpose is to pray, plan and program so that heaven will become real on earth and that people would be adequately prepared to enter our Lord’s heaven and avoid a life of separation from the absolute source of goodness and love. The Bible teaches that we have ‘eternity in our hearts’. Eternal life starts now, when the believer chooses to follow Christ personally. It will be fully realized in the life to come.
